California Common
Batch Number: 69
Type: 7B - California Common
Alc Percent: 5.10%
Notes & Comments:
(side bar) " This beer style is typically made by a distinctive method of bottom-fermentation at higher than ordinary temperatures. This technique, producing a beer with elements of both lager and ale in character, is said to have been common in California when, in the absence of ice, early brewers tried to make bottom-fermenting beers. This beer won Best of Show at the 2004 HOPS BOPS."
This beer is a lovely medium amber color with an off white head with nice retention. The nose is woody and toasty. Upfront bitter, than maltier, than a bitter bite again. Showcases the Northern Brewers hops nicely. A fine example of a California Common.
